progress: a crooked path

Those of you who work with Tim know that he is regularly in contact with LOTS of people. That's how he likes it. So, I suppose it should be no surprise that every time he wakes from a nap, he wonders if I have updated this blog. He likes knowing that he is connected to everyone. His spirits are lifted by the comments and texts that we receive, as are mine.

So, here's the latest...

Tim made terrific progress during the first 24 hours after surgery. A follow-up MRI was flawless, and yesterday, less than a full day after removal of the brain tumor, Tim was up and walking laps around the ICU unassisted. The physical therapist who came to work with him was astounded.

Well, all of that exertion was not without a cost...

The medical professionals here at Barrow did, indeed tell us that Day 2 would be more challenging, and they were right. (Of course they were right!) Today is a bit more challenging. Tim is quite fatigued and pain management has not yet been perfected. However, his neurosurgery team is on top of it, as are the nurses. They seem very dedicated to individualized care and they make continual adjustments to his health care regimen.

Next steps: Getting settled at home for a few days before we head to the Cape and eagerly await the pathology report, which will determine what sort of follow-up might be needed.

Thank you, again for checking in with us. We really do appreciate it.
