healing happening here

It's quiet here. The kids come and go, the dog scampers across the hardwood floors, rain patters on the roof, but overall, it's serene... and it's chilly -- sweatshirt weather! Perfect for strolling or snoozing, all bundled up at the beach.

We are told that the first two weeks after surgery are the most critical and the most difficult. Tim definitely feels like he has turned a corner and we are grateful to be nearing the end of that scary stage. The next phase: continued healing. Tim's sutures were removed this morning and his pain is nearly gone, but the fatigue is overwhelming. Even the most routine actions exhaust him -- getting dressed, talking on the phone, concentrating on a TV program, or a veeeeery slow walk on the beach are profoundly tiring. So, there are lots of quiet times -- lots of naps.

When he regains his strength, Tim plans to reply to emails and return phone calls. For now, this is too challenging. Though Tim experienced a burst of medication-induced energy immediately following surgery, that quickly faded. The docs told us this is normal. For now, with big thanks to our kids for taking on many of the daily household chores, we are grateful for simple things: pain-free days, candle-lit nights, and low tide at Skaket Beach.
